EXPERIENCE BLOCK

The EXPERIENCE BLOCK is the pulsing media heart of the space, covered in over 70 LCD and plasma displays encompassing mobile music videos, High Definition movies on demand, digital TV, broadband internet, business services, downloadable music, ringtones and wallpapers, video email and mms, and a 1:1 scale mobile phone finder.

Copper counters separate the shop at the front of the space from the event space in the rear, and emphasize the service aspects of the program. Here the store staff offer advice, assistance, repair and update information from the checkout counters. Leather furniture provides an environment for relaxation, retreat, work and one-on-one consultations with the store staff. A five meter long floor-to-ceiling pivoted door bordering the passageway leading up to Casa da Música allows the rear of the space to open up for events, presentations and parties while simultaneously closing off the shopping program.

The body of the EXPERIENCE BLOCK expands and contracts along a central axis to reveal articulated shelves, vertical drawers, seats and awnings.
