THE DOUBLE CLUB

DISCO

The DJ at the Double Club Disco played on a rotating circular dance floor which slowly revolved at about one turn per hour. When the DJ was in the Western half of the room, Western music was played, and when the rotation reached the Congolese half, the music switched to Congolese.

Divided by a virtual diagonal line, two distinctly different music styles were linked by this circular dance floor and integrated DJ console, which revolved at 360 degrees per hour. The circular lighting rig above the dancefloor rotated either clockwise or counter-clockwise at up to four times the speed of the dancefloor’s rotation.

The Western side of the room featured soft furnishings designed by Clemens Weisshaar & Reed Kram.
